CUNA Mutual Group Foundation
The CUNA Mutual Group Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) and is the philanthropic arm of CUNA Mutual Group. Later this year, our company will transition to TruStage. Rest assured, our founding philosophy of people helping people remains at the core of our efforts to ensure a brighter financial future is accessible to everyone. As we’ve evolved, we realized it was time to unify under a single brand — one that reflects all we do and strengthens our ability to serve those who count on us most and in our community.
With that evolution in mind, we are excited to share that this year we are focused on realigning with our brand and focusing our philanthropic efforts on economic mobility in the two areas where we believe we can have the most impact: education and housing. We will continue to center the lived experiences of the most marginalized and underfunded groups in our communities — so that a brighter and more confident financial future can become a reality.
Supporting Our Community
For us to make the greatest measurable impact, our focus is on two key investment areas with economic mobility at the core.

Education

Housing
Our education focus will be grounded in supporting K-12 students through literacy, mentoring, and tutoring.
And under the housing umbrella, we will be funding requests for affordable housing, homelessness support, and rental assistance.
Grant & Sponsorship Requests
The Corporate Social Responsibility Team will review both grant and sponsorship requests on an ongoing basis throughout the year. However, we do ask that you provide our team with at least 45 days for any request to be considered. Below you will find a chart with the 2023 Foundation Board meetings and deadlines listed.
Please note requests must align with one of two focus areas:
- Education
- Housing
The CUNA Mutual Group Foundation does not fund:
- Charitable causes not aligned with economic mobility (e.g., animal welfare, arts & culture, sports & recreation)
- Charitable causes that align with economic mobility but do not align with education or housing (e.g., violence, food insecurity, transportation)
- Capital campaigns
- Individuals
- Fraternal organizations
- Non-educational religious organizations
- Political causes or candidates
What is the difference between a Grant and a Sponsorship?
Grant: A gift from the CUNA Mutual Group Foundation which allows us to receive named recognition but no other benefits from our financial support.
Sponsorship: A contribution from CUNA Mutual Group that may provide us with named recognition, marketing/advertising opportunities, admission to events, etc.
