Protecting Our Colleagues

Work Environment and Facilities

The health and safety of our workforce, customers, partners and the community remain our top priority. We are here to serve you, your families, your businesses, members, and customers.

Based on COVID-19 infection trends and the success of the three vaccines, CUNA Mutual Group offices are open in Madison, WI, Waverly, IA, Great Bend, KS and Fort Worth, TX. We have offered our employees the choice of working where they feel most comfortable – virtual, in a company workspace, or in a hybrid model.

In addition, company offices in Chicago, Florida and New York are available to those who choose to work there.

On July 22 Dane County public health officials issued guidance that led to us recommending face masks for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, when working in our Madison offices.

Public Health Madison & Dane County issued a recommendation(opens in a new window) that all residents wear face masks in indoor public spaces. The recommendation follows Dane County crossing into the CDC’s “high community level”(opens in a new window) based on reported cases and hospitalizations.

Please note face masks are recommended – not required – under the new guidance. While we recommend face masks, we are enabling people to decide what precautions are best for them and their loved ones.

Per CDC updates on COVID-19, we encourage unvaccinated persons and those who choose to do so to wear a face covering in our other buildings. Please use this CDC resource(opens in a new window) to monitor risk for areas you may visit and continue to follow local guidelines.

Since offices reopened, we've demonstrated we can provide access to safe shared worksites without requesting employees to submit their vaccination status. As we continue that standard, we all have an obligation and personal responsibility to comply with requirements on face coverings and social distancing under local and CDC guidelines.

We understand navigating changing public health guidance can be challenging. Yet, it's critical that we each do our part to protect our colleagues, our customers and those who are unvaccinated, including children. We encourage everyone to participate in vaccination to help ensure the safety and well-being of our workforce and our communities. You can find information and resources here(opens in a new window).

Current Policy for Travel, Meetings & Events

Company offices re-opened to events and meetings with external participants on Wednesday, September 1. The CDC and other jurisdictions have not advised against hosting events that comply with available guidance, and we want those who manage relationships with customers and business partners to exercise their judgment and make their own decisions regarding external events and business travel whenever possible.

In-person meetings and events are optional for our workforce. For in-person meetings and events, employees are encouraged to plan events to include a virtual experience. Those who are unable or unwilling to voluntarily comply with our guidelines should attend virtually.
